A WARNING TO THE READER
C.D. Evans is an outspoken contrarian and
iconoclast. His writing makes no concession at all to what is promulgated
by gross vulgarians as "popular taste" and by ignorantia as "right
thinking." Further, Evans has no time for the ideologues, the ideologies,
or the orthodoxies of either the far loony left or the far repressive
right. Each proceeds initially in opposite directions on the circumference
of the Big Mandala until extreme left meets extreme right at the same
place: the totalitarian oligarchy, epicentre of all that ails the world.
Worthy of restatement are the following:
" One of the characteristics of modern readers is that none of them take
anything on trust simply because someone in authority has told them so."
- Keith Windschuttle, The Killing of History
" But whenever we see things done wildly, but taken tamely, then the State
is going insane. ..... [W]hen [nations] give birth to a fantastic fashion or
a foolish
law, they do not start or stare at the monster they have brought forth. They
have grown used to their own unreason; chaos is their cosmos; and the whirlwind
is the breath of their nostrils. These nations are really in danger of going
off their heads en masse; of becoming one vast vision of imbecility, with toppling
cities and crazy countrysides, all dotted with industrious lunatics."
- G.K. Chesterton
